STI testing and sexual health

You do not need to know which laboratory technique you need. The right test depends on the infection, time since exposure, anatomical site and specimen type.

Sex without protection

If the exposure is recent or you have symptoms, seek professional advice rather than waiting to choose a test yourself.

STI check-up

HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhoea and serology answer different questions and do not all use the same specimen.

Oral or anal exposure

A negative genital sample does not necessarily answer a pharyngeal or rectal exposure. Anatomical site matters.

Confidentiality

You can contact the centre discreetly by phone or WhatsApp. The pre-filled WhatsApp message is generic and does not include sensitive clinical information.

If you do not know which test you need

Give the centre a general description of why you are contacting us. The team can tell you what information is needed to organise care without requiring you to select a laboratory technique yourself.
